HPMOTW: Which Deathly Hollows would you want to keep for yourself?

Which Deathly Hollows would you want to keep for yourself?

A post shared by Chrystal (@snowdropdreams) on

Probably the Invisibility Cloak, because I don't think I'd want the power of the Elder Wand, not would I want to use the Resurrection Stone. I mean, it could be nice to chat with lost loved ones, but I don't think I'd want the power to actually resurrect them, I'd rather speak with their ghosts than have a zombie like corpse following me around. I'm definitely going with Invisibility Cloak.

In The Tales of Beedle the Bard, you can read the origin tale of the Hallows. Interesting story of the three brothers.

Which hallow would you choose?

HPMOTW: Free Week!

Banner and meme is owned by Uncorked Thoughts

I've gone back through the archives to find something interesting for this Freebie Week: so from 7/12/2017 - What's a word or expression from the books/movies that you use in every day life?

HPMOTW: You have a chance to make three Horcruxes, what items do you use?

Banner and meme is owned by Uncorked Thoughts

Horcux: an object that holds a piece of a witch or wizard's soul made by the use of Dark Magic and can only be created when committing a murder. -source

So if I were to make three of my own, what would they be? In all honesty, I'd never make one. But for the sake of the question, I think I'd choose:

-The garnet ring that my father gave to my mother when she gave birth to me.
-The beautiful glass hourglass that my brother gave to me a few years ago.
-The pearl necklace that my husband bought my to honour our daughters birth month.

What about you - would you pick things that mean something to you, go with a theme or pick completely random objects? Let me know in the comments.

There are so many great quotes from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, but this one just seems like the right one for right now. What is your favourite quote from this HP book?

HPMOTW: Wizarding World Book Club - JUNE!

This was supposed to be last week's Harry Potter Moment of the Week post as it was a FREEBIE week, but I lost track of time. So here it is this week as I don't participate weekly with this meme anyway.

I'm sure all of my Harry Potter friends know about this already, but for those who had not heard the news - there is a new book club coming to POTTERMORE!

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter coming into our lives for the first time, Pottermore, Bloomsbury and Schoolastic are launching the Wizarding Word Book Club! It's coming in June and it's a free place to discuss the series in detail.

Starting in June there will be monthly discussions based on the each book via their new Twitter account @WWBookClub.

I've already started my reread by listening to the audiobooks for the first time. I'm borrowing them from the library and am loving hearing the voice of Jim Dale while he narrates each character in the books. I'm currently listening to the Prisoner of Azkaban. I started this before I knew there would be a Book Club, but I'm super excited because they will be having themes each month and releasing new articles on Pottermore.

It sounds like a lot of fun, so you should all check it out! And if you've never checked out Pottermore before, you need to - go get sorted! I'm a Hufflepuff!

HPMOTW: Which cast member do you think was a perfect fit for their character?

banner and meme is owned by Uncorked Thoughts

Which cast member do you think was a perfect fit for their character?

Ob-viously, Alan Rickman as Severus Snape. ALWAYS. He's the character you love to hate from the first book, but by the end you love him.You finally understand him in ways you couldn't have imagined. Alan Rickman brings Snape's unlikeability from page to screen. He perfected the scary teacher role with has pacing, his pronunciation of words like obviously and his hate on for Harry.

The final scene with Alan Rickman always brings tears to my eyes. And when Harry learns the truth of Snape through the pensieve and Snape's tears, it just guts me. The love he had for Harry's Mom, Lily, was always there and I think Harry figured out that Snape hated him because that meant Lily was gone and that he protected Harry out of respect and duty to her as well.

HPMOTW: Which books would you recommend to Harry?

banner is owned by Uncorked Thoughts

The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle - The story shows us how different people are, where they fit in and to know that we are not alone. I think this is something that everyone needs to learn.

Charlotte's Web by E.B. White - A story of friendship and loyalty. Sound familiar?

The Book of Awesome by Neil Pasricha - A book about the little things that matter in life. Helps to give perspective when facing the big things.

Loss by Jackie Morse Kessler - A book about learning to stand up for yourself.

Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt - A story about immortality. Something I think people should understand more about. Would you want to live forever? Would you live your life differently?

What books would you suggest Harry read?

HPMOTW: What magical creature would you like living in your house?

banner is owned by Uncorked Thoughts
I would love to have a house elf, but not in the traditional sense. I'd love to have a friend like Dobby. He's adorable and faithful. Honest and unwaivering. I think an elf like Dobby would be like having your best friend living with you always. If it had to be in the traditional sense, then I'd  free my elf like Harry did. I'd want my elf to want to be around be and not obligated. There are so many other options for this question, but I'd still love to be friends with a house elf.

Harry Potter Moment of the Week: If you could be a character for a day, who would you be?

banner is owned by Uncorked Thoughts

This week was a freebie choice week, so I am excited to go and cover a topic that happened before I started participating in HPMOTW.

If you could be a character for a day, who would you be?

Normally I would say something predictable like Hermione Granger due to her smarts, her confidence and her selflessness, but I'm going to pick someone I'd loved to have learned more about: Luna Lovegood!

She has her quirks that is for sure, but if you think about it she always has some profound thing to say and that's probably why she is in Ravenclaw.
source
I think it would be fun to see what she is like after the series had ended - what will she have chosen for the life path? I hope that she would have started writing for a magazine or newspaper like the Quibbler!

source
And lastly her patronus is a rabbit which represents contradictory ideals: it's a symbol of cleverness and foolishness, of cowardice and courage, etc. I think that sums her up pretty well... she is unpredictable with her sometimes odd statements that turn out to be more clever than first believed.

Harry Potter Moment Of The Week: If you could open a shop on Diagon Alley, what would it be and why?

banner is owned by Uncorked Thoughts

If you could open a shop on Diagon Alley, what would it be and why?

source
As corny as it sounds, I'd actually really love to own a stationery and book store like Flourish & Blotts. I have a major love for all things stationery and book related: fantastic pens, pretty coloured markers, sticky notes, bookmarks, journals that write what you think, books with beautiful covers that change colours with your mood.

I would host book signings with most sought out wizard authors and have the most amazing events with all the bells and whistles.

I would have to come up with an amazing name like Scribbles and Scrolls!

What shop would you want to open?

Harry Potter Moment of the Week: The One With Books Within The Books

Harry Potter Moment of the Week - Uncorked Thoughts

Fantastic Beasts
source
Favourite book featured within the series? My pick is Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by Newt Scamander. I loved learning about all of the different magical creatures in Harry's world.

My favourite beasts are the Griffin, the different dragons and the Unicorn (of course). Who knew that zoology, or should I say magizoology, could be so interesting?

If you were lucky enough to own a copy of the book that J.K. Rowling wrote, you would get to see all of the fun little notes the Hermione, Ron and Harry wrote as comments on the pages.

What was your favourite book featured in the series?

Harry Potter Moment of the Week: The One Where I'm More Like Hermione Than I Realized

Harry Potter Moment of the Week - Uncorked Thoughts

Otter Patronus

What would your Patronus be? Just call me Hermione! I love the look of her patronus and how playful it is when you see it in the movie. I like that fact the Hermione is so studious, but it's fun to see her patronus be symbolic of letting go, enjoying the moment and spontaneity. It's almost representative of all the things the Hermione needs more of in her life and I realize that I need those things more too. I stress too much and work too hard sometimes.

What would you want for your patronus?

Harry Potter Moment of The Week - The One Who Had Everyone's Back

Harry Potter Moment of the Week - Uncorked Thoughts
banner is owned by Uncorked Thoughts
I stumbled upon this meme while checking out another blogger's posts and fell in love with this idea! I cannot believe that I hadn't stumbled upon Uncorked Thoughts blog before or this meme. So I'm going to try to participate weekly with this meme starting this week! If it sounds like fun or you are a super Harry Potter fan, check it out!

Best "Neville Moment"
I've decided that Neville is one of my favourite characters in the Harry Potter series and this is only years after finishing the books and watching the movies. I believe if you have time to reflect on the books you read that you can form opinions you wouldn't have originally had. You need time to absorb and contrast everything. And now when given the task to pick my best Neville moment, I've decided that he is surprisingly the most deserving of the Gryffindor name. He was loyal to a fault, he is extremely humble and honest and he is one of the most fierce friends you could ever hope to find in a lifetime. His speech to Voldemort shows how he has evolved into the perfect Gryffindor. Watch this clip so you can see for yourself and you'll see why it's my favourite Neville moment.

WARNING: Spoilers if you haven't read all of the books!

Neville had the chance to just walk away from it all and go with the flow of everything that was happening around` him, but he chose to keep the fight alive while Harry was away and keeping Dumbledore's Army running. It takes a lot of bravery to step up and defy those in charge.

I think this article from Tor.com says it best - Neville Longbottom is the Most Important Person in Harry Potter.
