Cover Reveal & Guest Post | Come From Away by Genevieve Graham | Giveaway

I was recently contacted by Genevieve Graham to be a part of the cover reveal for her upcoming release, Come From Away. It's releasing April 2018 and is a companion novel to Tides of Honour. She also has graciously written up a guest post in honour of the reveal! It's always a delight to work with Ms. Graham. THE COVER IS GORGEOUS, but you'll have to read her guest post before you can see the cover. Cheers!

The Story Behind the Cover

Throughout the months it takes me to write one of my novels, I try not to envision what the cover will look like. I’m not sure how many people know this, but in the traditional publishing process, authors have very little to no say on their cover art. As you can probably imagine, that’s pretty terrifying. After all, an author spends the better part of their days/weeks/months putting their soul into a book, but they have no idea how it will eventually appear when it sits on bookstore shelves.

Well, when this cover appeared in my email, I cried.

Really, I shouldn’t have been surprised. My cover designer at Simon & Schuster Canada, Elizabeth Whitehead, is a creative genius. The first cover she designed for me was for “Tides of Honour”, and I fell in love with it. You see, I describe my novels as historical fiction brought to life through a love story, but they’re not what you would call typical “romance” novels. When I saw the cover for “Tides of Honour”, I saw a powerful love story threatened by dangerous times, turbulent emotions, and uncertainty—all of which are in the book. Then I wrote “Promises to Keep”, a heartbreaking, very real story of the Acadians, set over 150 years earlier, and incredibly, Elizabeth maintained the same beautiful level of creativity with that cover. Then I saw what she’d done for “Come From Away”, and I couldn’t wait to share. I think I love it best of all.

Think of the challenge presented to a cover designer. They have a single opportunity to encapsulate an entire story in one image or design. That image must rise to the top of a sea of books to attract a reader’s attention, and it must engage them to the point that they are curious enough to take the book off the shelf and open it to the first page. After that step, of course, it’s up to the author to reward the reader with a story they will—hopefully—love.

When you look at the young couple on the cover for “Come From Away”, you see so much. The 1940s is evident in their dress, the cold Atlantic looms before them, and the skulking shape in the water reminds us of the state of the world at that time. You also see the couple’s uncertain attraction to one another, and their trepidation. Something is keeping them apart, but you don’t yet know what it is. And there’s something else ... I don’t know about you, but something about this couple has me rooting for them before I even pick up the book.

Here’s the synopsis for “Come From Away”, which will be published in April 2018. It is the companion novel to “Tides of Honour”, but the two are standalone books. If you have read “Tides of Honour”, you will recognize some of the characters, but this is twenty-five years later, so a lot has changed. I hope you enjoy the story as much as I loved writing it.

From the bestselling author of Tides of Honour and Promises to Keep comes a poignant novel about a young couple caught on opposite sides of the Second World War.

In the fall of 1939, Grace Baker’s three brothers, sharp and proud in their uniforms, board Canadian ships headed for a faraway war. Grace stays behind, tending to the homefront and the general store that helps keep her small Nova Scotian community running. The war, everyone says, will be over before it starts. But three years later, the fighting rages on and rumours swirl about “wolf packs” of German U-Boats lurking in the deep waters along the shores of East Jeddore, a stone’s throw from Grace’s window. As the harsh realities of war come closer to home, Grace buries herself in her work at the store.

Then, one day, a handsome stranger ventures into the store. He claims to be a trapper come from away, and as Grace gets to know him, she becomes enamoured by his gentle smile and thoughtful ways. But after several weeks, she discovers that Rudi, her mysterious visitor, is not the lonely outsider he appears to be. He is someone else entirely—someone not to be trusted. When a shocking truth about her family forces Grace to question everything she has so strongly believed, she realizes that she and Rudi have more in common than she had thought. And if Grace is to have a chance at love, she must not only choose a side, but take a stand.

Come from Away is a mesmerizing story of love, shifting allegiances, and second chances, set against the tumultuous years of the Second World War.

Author Sally Christie`s Reading List | Guest Post | #TimelessTour @SimonSchusterCA

Today I am excited to host a guest post from Sally Christie for Simon & Schuster Canada`s Timeless Tour and I`m even more excited that it`s her suggested reading list! I always love seeing what books inspire authors and what books they enjoy reading. Enjoy this list of historical fiction!

Sally Christie’s suggested reading list

Given that time travel is not happening (yet), good historical fiction is the best way to immerse yourself in the past.  Here are some of my favorite novels from across the years, that have delighted and inspired me:

Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies by Hilary Mantel. Hell yes. I don't just love these books, I lurve them.

Slammerkin by Emma Donoghue.  Forget Room!  This is where it's at. I remember when I first read this book, more than a decade ago: I had this searing moment of jealousy. I thought: But this is the book wanted to write! I really love her historical fiction and can’t wait to read The Wonder.

An Instance of the Fingerpost by Iain Pears. Rich and detailed and opened my eyes to what good historical fiction could be. Magic in fine paper form!

As Meat Loves Salt by Maria McCann. The power of fiction to illuminates the lives of those we might not always think about – homosexual love in 17thcentury England.

An Ice Cream War by William Boyd.  Years - decades! - after first reading this I can still remember some of the scenes and visuals in this story about World War I as it plays out in East Africa. Stunning and one of my favorite books ever.

Guest Post: Author Maggie King on What Made Her A mystery Writer

Maggie King is back with her new release Murder At the Moonshine Inn (November 15, 2016) - the second book in the Hazel Rose Book Group series. Last year I reviewed Murder At the Book Group and today Maggie is here to tell us what helped her become a mystery writer. Be sure to check out the details for Murder At The Moonshine Inn at the end of this post. I'm really digging the new cover style! Thank you for being a part of my blog again today Maggie!
How My Love of Reading Made Me a Mystery Writer

Readers often ask how I came to be a mystery writer. I don’t have to think about my answer: my love of reading combined with a need to see justice prevail paved the way for me. And I haven’t limited my reading to mysteries (although these days, I’m more likely than not to reach for one). My reading history includes the classics, contemporary fiction, romance, biographies, and non-fiction.

In the best fiction, the characters contend with conflict, relationships, romance, family, friendship, and often seemingly insurmountable obstacles. Most stories end on a happy note, with a triumph of the spirit. But not always.

In mysteries, one or more dead bodies heighten the conflict. Justice usually prevails in the end when the bad people are caught and punished. Usually, but not always.

Like many young girls, I was hooked on the adventures of Nancy Drew and the Dana Girls (no dead bodies for those girl detectives, but they sure got themselves in precarious situations). Anne Emery and similar writers wrote about teen life. Their stories of conflict-ridden teenagers (oxymoron?) were especially exciting for a pre-teen. At the age of eleven, I wrote a mystery and read daily installments to my friends. Unfortunately, I didn’t stick with the craft and it took years to get back to it.

In high school, besides required works like Great Expectations, Beowulf, and Pride and Prejudice, I enjoyed the popular fiction of the day: The Prize, Exodus, Gone with the Wind, If Morning Ever Comes, A Stone for Danny Fisher, and Valley of the Dolls. (I had to hide some of these titles from my mother’s sharp eyes).

In my twenties, I was too busy partying and working long hours to read much, but I did manage to fit in An American Tragedy and Atlas Shrugged. And one day when I stayed home from work with the flu, my mother appeared on my doorstep with chicken soup and a stack of Agatha Christies. I read 13 at Dinner and remain devoted to Dame Agatha to this day.

I moved on to a very eclectic period, with romances (Helen Van Slyke was my favorite) and Susan Howatch’s sagas. I continued with Agatha Christie and Ayn Rand.

Then I entered my classics phase. I took a job near the Los Angeles Public Library and one of my co-workers visited the library during lunch. I went with her one day and discovered book heaven. I started reading, in some cases re-reading, the works of Thomas Hardy, the Bronte sisters, Jane Austen, and Sinclair Lewis, to name a few. Jane Eyre tops my list of favorite classics. Willa Cather was a revelation.

In 1993, I joined a mystery group in Santa Clarita, California. I had never stopped reading Agatha Christie, but other mystery authors were new to me. The group introduced me to Sue Grafton, Marcia Muller, Anne Perry, Gillian Roberts, and many, many more.

When I moved to Virginia is 1996, I found Women’s Voices, a group that read contemporary fiction by women. Margaret Atwood, Anita Brookner, Louise Erdrich, and Barbara Kingsolver are a few names I can easily recall. On my own, I discovered the joys of John Steinbeck, especially East of Eden and The Grapes of Wrath.

I continued to devour mysteries … and started writing them, picking up where I’d stopped years before.

And you’ll find lots of conflict, romance, and mystery in my stories, where justice prevails—but not always the kind you expect.

About the Author:
Maggie King is the author of the Hazel Rose Book Group mysteries, including the recently-released Murder at the Moonshine Inn. She contributed the stories “A Not So Genteel Murder” and “Reunion at Shockoe Slip” to the Virginia is for Mysteries anthologies.

Maggie is a member of Sisters in Crime, James River Writers, and the American Association of University Women. She has worked as a software developer, retail sales manager, and customer service supervisor. Maggie graduated from Elizabeth Seton College and earned a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Rochester Institute of Technology. She has called New Jersey, Massachusetts, and California home. These days she lives in Richmond, Virginia with her husband, Glen, and cats, Morris and Olive. She enjoys reading, walking, movies, traveling, theatre, and museums.

Murder at the Moonshine Inn by Maggie King

WHEN HIGH-POWERED EXECUTIVE Roxanne Howard dies in a pool of blood outside the Moonshine Inn, Richmond, Virginia’s premiere redneck bar, the victim’s sister enlists Hazel Rose to ferret out the killer. At first Hazel balks—she’s a romance writer, not a detective. But Brad Jones, Rox’s husband, is the prime suspect. He’s also Hazel’s cousin, and Hazel believes in doing anything to help family. Never mind that Brad won’t give her the time of day—he’s still family.

Hazel recruits her book group members to help with the investigation. It’s not long before they discover any number of people who feel that a world without Rox Howard is just fine with them: Brad’s son believes that Rox and Brad were behind his mother’s death; Rox’s former young lover holds Rox responsible for a tragedy in his family; and one of Rox’s employees filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against her. The killer could be an angry regular from the Moonshine Inn—or just about anyone who ever crossed paths with the willful and manipulative Rox.

When a second murder ups the ante Hazel must find out who is behind the killings. And fast. Or she may be victim #3.

Guest Post: The Last Ones by T Michelle Nelson

The Last Ones by T Michelle Nelson

Evie Stone is a small town girl who has moved off to college to better herself and make a new life outside of her rural West Kentucky roots. When the zombie plague breaks out, Evie has only one choice. She must get back home to her family and the safety of small town life. She will find her once quaint and beautiful hometown is now overrun with zombies and the only source of order is the local motorcycle gang. Can Evie and her family survive the rotters as well as the dangerous bikers?

SURVIVING THE END IS ONLY THE BEGINNING…

I'd like to welcome T Michelle Nelson back to my blog to promote her latest release, The Last Ones. It releases today and I cannot wait to read it. I love a good zombie story. Since the main character, Evie, is from a small town, Ms. Nelson has written a guest post to explain the setting for The Last Ones.

The Setting for The Last Ones

My first series, the Lily Drake books, made mention of Benton, Kentucky. The Last Ones is primarily set there. Most people reading this have probably never heard of Benton, Kentucky. Some may even wonder if it is fictional. It is not. It’s very real and also my hometown.

Benton, like any other place has its quirky, unusual bits. Once a year we have a celebration called Tater Day, which falls on the first Monday in April. Having lived there all my life I never thought about it, but once I moved and told people of our annual event, the reaction I got was usually the same. They laughed and made some joke about being a “hillbilly.”

In the last few years I have had quite a few realizations about being from this little town of less than 5,000 in rural Kentucky:

#1 – I sound different. My accent is very regional. I never realized how different I sounded, but I very much like it. No longer living in Western Kentucky, it often gets me out of trouble. i.e. – speeding tickets. It’s also an instant ice-breaker.

#2 – People are friendlier in Benton than anywhere else I have travelled. I suppose it might make some people uncomfortable, but we actually look strangers in the eye and say hello. It’s how we roll.

#3 – It’s beautiful. We have beautiful parks and lakes. Western Kentucky is absolutely gorgeous and if you like boating, skiing, etc, it’s heaven.

#4 – When I speak with the twang I mentioned in #1, some people expect I am not educated, or even stupid. I looked online for data regarding this one, but couldn’t find it specific only to my hometown. I can tell you I believe the majority of my graduating class went on to college or some other type of higher learning. We have excellent schools in the area. As a whole, I’d wager money on my Benton people holding their own in any battle of wits.

#5 – There is no food better than back home, especially, BBQ, according to my husband (who is from North of the Mason-Dixon). I’m a vegetarian, so I’m taking his word on this one. I can attest to the pies and baked goods. It’s called meringue, and a chocolate pie is an abomination without it.

West Kentucky may not have been on your bucket list of places to visit, but if you add it, you won’t be sorry. Visit Kentucky Lake and read The Last Ones!

It’s a steamy reunion between a single mum and the billionaire who got away!

Former ski champion Conor Kavanagh enjoys a challenge. And he’s encountered no challenge more arousing than Ellie Porter. Once, she broke his heart. Now that she’s back in town? He can’t seem to stay away…

But Ellie has changed. Widowed, with a baby, she has responsibilities — and secrets — weighing her down. Still, his desire for her is undeniable. Surely, he can have her without giving up his heart — or his daredevil ways? He’s willing to risk it all to find out…

Summer Vacation

Does your family take a vacation every summer? Are you beach people, or do you enjoy staycations? Visiting relatives? Theme parks?

Over the years, our family has tried all of those and more.

But confession time: I may be a bit of an overpacker! When it comes to summer travel—or any trip for that matter—I like to cover a wide range of contingencies. I’ve even been known to use a laminated packing list. (I know…I need therapy. Ha!)

It would help if I had minions…not the yellow kind, but ones who do the heavy lifting. The rich and famous have minions. Hairstylists, social secretaries, accountants, nutritionists, trainers. The list goes on. If I had a support team like that, I’d travel with ease.

Silver Glen, North Carolina, the fictional home of my seven sexy Kavanagh brothers, is a beautiful, upscale town where movie stars, entertainers and other high-profile figures come to power down and relax away from the paparazzi. I’ve had fun creating the community from scratch. I know and love the mountains of North Carolina, so it wasn’t a stretch for me to invent a very special hometown for my Kavanagh guys.

When I head out on the road, though, I love to explore places I’ve never been before. When our girls were ten and fourteen, we spent six weeks in Wyoming. We traveled on a strict budget—not camping, but staying in a lot of mom-and-pop motels that looked like something out of a movie set.

It was an adventure, to say the least. We still talk about those days as a high-water mark for our family. All our stuff was packed into a van with a fiberglass “snail” carrier on top. We had coats for when it snowed in Jackson Hole in the Fourth of July. We had shorts for the sunny days when hikes were hot. We had rain gear…medical supplies…cameras and, yes, even film. We call those the good old days…but it would have been nice to have had an iPhone!

It’s a treat for me to write books about places I love, whether they’re fictional settings or real spots on the map. When I was younger, I devoured Harlequin Romances, especially the ones set in England, Australia and New Zealand. I learned a lot of geography from those wonderful books!

I hope you’ll take Conor Kavanagh home with you in August. Second Chance with the Billionaire is a heartfelt, sexy story about resurrecting an old love. Thanks for supporting romance and extra thanks for reading my books. I truly appreciate each one of you!
~Janice Maynard

I'm an overpacker too! Always afraid I'll forget something I'll need. And I'd love some minions too! Thanks for stopping by Snowdrop Dreams to let my readers know about your latest release.

About the Author:
Janice Maynard knew she loved books and writing by the time she was eight years old. But it took multiple rejections and many years of trying before she sold her first three novels in 1996 and 1997. After teaching kindergarten and second grade for sixteen years, Janice turned to writing full-time in the fall of 2002. Since then she has written and sold over twenty-five books and novellas. Her publishers include Kensington, Penguin/NAL, Berkley, and Harlequin.

Uncle John's Bathroom Reader FOR KIDS ONLY! (Collectible Edition) | Review & Guest Post

I was so excited to see this opportunity in my inbox and I just knew I had to be on this tour. My sister and I love reading these Bathroom Reader books. She even has a collection, so I'll be sure to pass this one along to her for her collection and then she can share with her children when they are just a little bit older.

Uncle John's Bathroom Reader for Kids Only! by The Bathroom Reader Institute
Published: April 8, 2014
Publisher: Portable Press
Pages: 288
Buy Now: Amazon

Here is an exciting chance to own the very first Uncle John's Bathroom Reader For Kids Only! in a hardcover edition with all new illustrations! When our younger readers demanded a Bathroom Reader of their own, Uncle John put together this brain-boggling easy-to-read collection of facts, fads, quotes, history, science, origins, pop culture, mythology, humor, and more! Plus it's full of wacky and fun illustrations and Uncle John's famous "running feet" — those fun and fascinating facts on the bottom of every page. Curious young readers will learn about the real Dr. Seuss, baseball superstitions, the birth of The Simpsons, how carnival games are rigged, the history of dining on scorpions and tarantulas, shocking truths about thunder and lightning, and disgusting bodily functions like ear wax production and digestion (and why they're important), and much, much more!

I had a blast reading this Bathroom Reader. Not only is it full of fun facts, jokes and interesting stories, it also made me think about things I'd love to learn more about. For instance, I loved the article about how cloud formations were named and what each type of cloud was called and what each did. Very cool.

The most interesting fact that stuck with me is kind of hilarious: 24 hours from now, you'll have forgotten 80% of what you learned today.

I think the information found within this book is perfect for the age range the book was intended for - it contained just enough gross facts to keep them entertained, fun little cartoons and some really inspiring stories.

Today my husband and I were lounging around trying to stay cool and he asked me to start reading him sections of Uncle John's Bathroom Reader For Kids Only. We made it a bit of a game - he'd pick a topic, I would look it up and start reading him sections and making him guess some of the facts. Then we played where we would pick a random number and read what was on that page. It was a lot of fun and we learned so much today.

If you are looking for a fun book for kids, I'd recommend this one. It will keep them busy and it's actually a lot more fun to read than a novel as the sections are short, but interesting. Perfect for a car ride, a rainy day or just to read aloud with friends and have a giggle.

What was the most fun aspect of putting this book together?

There are so many fun aspects of creating a book like this. One great part of putting the book together is working with the illustrator because you never know how an artist is going to illustrate a story. There’s nothing like getting a sketch of a barfing bird…or an ice cream cone with a nose…or a shark coming out of a toilet. Another great part is doing the research for the articles and gathering all the information that goes into a book. We are fans of wacky facts, so it’s not work—it’s fun. Working on an Uncle John’s Bathroom Reader For Kids Only is like getting a college education…only funnier.

About the Author:
The BRI consists of a small groups of trivia nuts, based in a little red house in the sleepy valley town of Ashland, Oregon. The team is working feverishly to bring you the very best bathroom reading in the world.

Characters

Are the characters in the Lily Drake novels total figments of my imagination?  Hardly.  If you're close to me, more than likely one of my characters has some of your personality traits - or maybe even your name.

Lily is the complete badass I want to be.  She does exactly what I would do in her situation, yet she has the ability to decimate anything.  It is wishful thinking on my part.  Lily is my alter-ego.

Rose has moments of likeness to that of my own mother.  She's smart, beautiful, rational and well-planned.  She can also be very proper.  My mom, she's one classy chick.  Undoubtedly, she would probably roll her eyes at me calling her that, yet it's true.

Mathias and Val both have qualities and are a blend of one particular man.  He is hard-headed and can wear a suit well, like Mathias, but is also completely uncouth and carefree like Val.  Like both men, he is completely maddening at times, yet completely lovable at others.  Writing one character would never justify his complex personality, so I had to make two.

Keaton... it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out he is much like my son at that age. He's funny, yet sarcastic and incredibly talented.

In Book Three, you will meet two new allies of Lily - Susan and Vit.  They are quite the characters, just like the people who inspired them.

About the Author:
T. Michelle Nelson became enamored with vampires at an early age when she watched George Hamilton in “Love at First Bite.” As she got older, her tastes leaned more toward the dark and morose, but her love of all things vampire never wavered.  Little has changed over the years, except now T.  makes up her own macabre stories of the undead… mixed with a splash of romance, tough heroines and tons of dark humor.

T. Michelle Nelson is a native of Benton, Kentucky and a graduate of Murray State University.  Currently she resides in a small town in Ohio, which is also the setting of her Lily Drake series.  The first two books in the series, Life and Death of Lily Drake and 'Til Death Do Us Part, are currently available at Barnes and Noble, Amazon or any of your other favorite online bookstores. A short story prequel The First Time is also available. Death Warmed Over, the third and final book of the series will release in late June.

When she isn’t writing, you can usually find her spending time with her son, singing out of key, watching B-Horror movies or discussing world problems with her little dog, Toadie.

All My Restless Life to Live BLITZ!

All My Restless Life to Live by Dee DeTarsio
Publication date: April 29th 2013
Genres: Adult, Romance
Purchase: Amazon | B&N

Award-winning author Dee DeTarsio combines life’s darker side with humor and tenderness in a wonderfully charming look at love and the afterlife.

Life is a soap opera, especially for Elle Miller, who is a TV producer. (Ellen dropped the “n” in her name in hopes of finding a better ending for herself.) When her laptop crashes, she borrows her dead dad’s computer and gets way more than she bargained for.

As Elle tries to save her career with a storyline featuring a trip through Atlantis, she takes a trip to the Emmys, and finds herself in the middle of a romance between a real doctor and a hunk who just plays one on TV. Friends, family, and clues from “the other side” all help Elle figure out the difference between living the good life . . .  and living a good life.

Why Guys Should Read Chick Lit

What most guys don’t know, is that women’s fiction has a lot on offer.
I don’t think I’m being presumptuous about the reading habits of XYs.
My husband (who has earned his title of “beditor”) wouldn’t be caught dead reading *girl* stuff,
unless I convince him otherwise.

His biggest complaint is that “women sure do think a lot.” That’s right, we do. Live and learn, hombres.
What can guys learn from chick lit? Lots of cool stuff.
Like women think it’s sexier for guys to fill up our cars with gas, than to play bongos on our ass.
(See what we did there, it’s sing-songy and rhymes so guys can easily remember it.)

It’s not like men are from Jupiter, that’s why they’re stupider . . . (though if the planet fits!)
This is just an open invitation to those he-men of the universe to take a ride on the chick slide.
(That sounds dirty but maybe it will help attract their attention.)

There are so many smart, fun women writers, it would be great if guys would read it and weep.
For extra relationship-bonus points, they can share their feelings in a bedtime book report!

And they all lived
...happily ever after.

About the Author:

  • The Blah Story by Nigel Tomm because it’s 17, 868 pages long and will take me forever to read.
  • Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell. I adore the movie but I haven’t actually read the book yet.
  • The Host by Stephenie Meyer because it’s a decent length and I could read it over and over again.
  • Naked in Death by J.D. Robb so I can get my Roarke fix. ;)

2) What five items would you want, and why?
  • A fishing pole so I won’t have to go all Tom Hanks with a sharpened stick like he did on Cast Away.
  • Emergency flint fire starters so I won’t hurt my hand trying to light a fire . . . like Tom Hanks on Cast Away.
  • A raft so I won’t have to build one . . . like Tom Hanks on Cast Away.
  • A friend so I won’t start talking to volleyballs or coconuts . . . like Tom Hanks on Cast Away.
  • Flares so I can attract ships and planes and not be stranded for Four years . . . like Tom Hanks on Cast Away.

*Hurricane Crimes is a short story.*

After her car breaks down, Beth Kennedy is forced to stay in Florida, the target of Hurricane Sabrina. She stocks up supplies, boards up windows, and hunkers down to wait out the storm, but her plan unravels when she witnesses a car accident. Risking her life, she braves the winds to save the driver. Just when she believes they are safe, she finds out the man she saved could possibly be more dangerous than the severe weather.

Donovan Goldwyn only wanted to hide from the police, but the hurricane shoved his car into a tree. Now he's trapped with a beautiful woman while the evidence that can prove his innocence to a brutal crime is out there for anyone to find.

As Hurricane Sabrina wreaks havoc, Beth has no other choice but to trust Donovan to stay alive. But will she survive, or will she become another hurricane crime?

EXCERPT
On the television set, which was fighting to stay alive, was breaking news. She caught bits and pieces of it as she emptied the bowl of blood-tainted water and threw out the cloth. It was about a high-speed chase that had occurred about a half-hour ago. Beth shook her head. Apparently, Donovan wasn’t the only idiot driving around during a hurricane.
She went back into the living room and began replacing all the medical supplies into the first-aid kit. Behind her, a reporter was explaining that the driver of the car was believed to be a murder suspect.
“The name of the—”
The lights flashed, prompting Beth to snatch up her flashlight.
“Donovan Goldwyn.”
Her fingers went cold around the plastic tube as ice frosted her veins. She straightened her spine and turned stiffly to the television, her heart wasn’t beating in her chest. On the screen was the picture of the man who was right now changing in her bedroom. Above it was a caption in bold letters that read—SUSPECT.
She gripped the flashlight in her frozen fingers. Her heart thudded fearfully. She stared into the immobilized violet eyes through the glass.
“Oh my god,” she gasped.
She had brought a murderer into her home!
