Wednesday—Unexpected Treasure
Share a book or genre you tried due to the influence of another blogger. What made you cave in to try something new and what was the experience like?
---------------------------------
So far I have the same books I normally would pick up, but I did learn that there are names for genres or types of books I have been reading along that I didn't know had a NAME/GENRE.
Like dystopian genre - Dystopia is the vision of a society in which conditions of life are miserable and characterized by poverty, oppression, war, violence, disease, pollution, nuclear fallout and/or the abridgement of human rights, resulting in widespread unhappiness, suffering, and other kinds of pain. (Source: Wikipedia)
I really didn't know that many of the books on my TBR list or that I have already read fell into this category. So I guess I would say that is the newest thing that I have found by blogging, since I have only been blogging for a short time.
I love (maybe that's not the right word) dystopian novels.
ReplyDeleteI really do think Dystopian novels seem to be on the rise! New trend maybe? I really don't mind because most of the ones I've read have turned out to be really good! :)
ReplyDeleteIt really does seem to be getting popular lately.
ReplyDeleteI've read a few great ones. They seem to be more popular then I realized!
ReplyDeleteI have always been into dystopian novels. For some reason, every dystopian novel that I've read is good. (i.e. The Hunger Games, Uglies, The Handmaid's Tale, The Road, World War Z)... I can just keep going on and on with this one. :) I am a big fan!
ReplyDeleteYES! Dystopian is the best. My husband was always the ultimate skeptic when it came to YA, but I got him hooked on The Hunger Games and now he'll read anything dystopian. Some favorites: The Chaoes Walking triology, The Forest of Hands and Teeth series, and The Maze Runner.
ReplyDeleteI'm really liking this new genre! I've only read a few dystopian books but I plan to read a whole lot more. It's a nice change from vampires and werewolves.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nely and Katie for the recommendations! I'm going to check them out :)
Thanks for the recommendations everyone... my list of dystopian books TBR keeps getting longer. :)
