My interview was with The Book Vixen - She has already posted the interview she did with me - check out her blog for my fun answers.
The Book Vixen is a really great person to chat with and ever so helpful to a new book blogger like myself. She is such a sweetie and her blog is full of great reviews. You should all go check out her blog. She can also be found on Twitter, Goodreads and LibraryThing. Okay so, now to the interview...
From your blog profile, I see that you didn't really get into reading until your twenties - do you sometimes wish you learned your love for reading at an earlier age or are you more appreciative of it because you were older when you fell in love with reading?A part of me wishes that the bookworm in me came out at a younger age but nothing really captured my attention back then. I wasn't into the Sweet Valley High series or The Babysitter's Club (I've never babysat, ever). I did read a couple of Lois Duncan books but I never really looked forward to reading. If the books we have out now would have been out back then, then I might have been on board the bookworm train a long time ago.
When I did finally get into reading, it took me a while to figure out what I like (mainly contemporary romance, paranormal romance, and YA) and what I didn't like (hold the Sci-F and the non-fiction). I usually bounce around between those 3 genres.
Based on your favourite choice of genres, if you were to suggest a book to a fellow romance reader - what book would you tell them they MUST read?
Depends on what kind of romance reader you are. If you like a good smutty read that will have you laughing, I'd recommend The Unidentified Redhead by Alice Clayton. I recently read that one and it was good! I can't wait for the sequel to come out! This one is HOT!
If you like a good smexy, suspenseful read that will sizzle right through the pages, I'd recommend Broken by Shiloh Walker. Quinn = yum!
If you like contemporary romance, I just finished reading Meet Me in Manhattan by Judith Arnold and I really enjoyed it! This one was about a love lost and trying to get it back.
If you're a paranormal junkee then I'd recommend The Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost. Cat and Bones are hot! Cat is fierce. Bones is sexy as hell.
As a new book blogger myself, what made you decide to start a book blog? What advice would you give to a new book blogger?
I didn't know about the world of book blogging until last summer. I can't remember how I stumbled upon it but I found some blogs and thought wow, look at all these book covers! I'm a cover whore, what can I say? I thought it would be a fun thing to do so I chatted it up with Fiction Vixen. (I've known her online for about 6 years and she took part in feeding my vampire addiction.) So we each started our own blogs. I didn't think it was going to last this long for me; I'm actually still a bit surprised that it's still holding my interest. If you knew me in real life, you'd know that I change my mind a lot and I'm known to start projects but rarely finish them. But books are my obsession right now and I'll continue on until the obsession stops.
I would recommend to new book blogger to get yourself settled into your blog first. It doesn't have to be perfect, shoot I'm constantly making cosmetic improvements to my blog, but give your readers something to read. Get some posts up - reviews, discusions, something. Put some widgets up on the sidebar(s). I like to know what you're currently reading and where I can find you (Twitter, Goodreads, LibraryThing, etc.). Then once you have yourself situated, you got to get yourself out there. Get on Twitter, mingle. Get on Goodreads and set up your shelves. Comment on other blogs (meaningful comments).
And finally, do you have a favourite bookstore or indie bookstore that you go to?
I love going to Barnes & Noble and Borders. I love being surrounded by books. I go just to walk the isles and look at all the pretties. I need to find me a good indie store.
Thanks for the fun interview! It was nice meeting you and I look forward to more book-talk with you :)

ReplyDeleteThanks Nely!
ReplyDeleteOh, so there is hope! that people can eventually become a reader. My oldest (15 yo) isn't into reading because there isn't much out there that interests him. I can see him being a good non-fic reader as an adult but right now it'd be over his head and not much YA non-fic out there.
