Stacking the Shelves (1)

Stacking the Shelves is a new feature created by Tynga of Tynga's Reviews. I have chosen to support this feature in lieu of others as I wish to support my fellow Canadians as often as possible. This choice is not reflecting upon the drama that has taken place in the book blogging community - I am keeping my thoughts on that private as I do not wish be pulled into it all.

So I'm excited to post my mailbox surprises with you all, because the books that I thought would be arriving this week have not come yet. So next week might be a bigger week for books.

The hardcover copy of Wuthering Heights by Emile Bronte was purchased at my local library for $1! Seriously - it is an old library book from a school library, but the cover is in great condition and there is only a bit of writing in the front cover. I'm adding it to my collection of old hardcover books. :)

AND....

The other three books pictured were surprises sent by Simon & Schuster Canada! I had no idea these were coming, but am completely grateful for them. Some great summer/fall reading ahead for me.

ALSO....

I received a wicked little swag pack from author Allison Pang. (I sent her and SASE with my request and she sent me some pretty awesome stuff - sorry about the glare on the photo).

Love the trading cards especially Phin (the unicorn with the pink panties in his mouth). Seriously you need to read this series! Check out my reviews of A Brush of Darkness and A Sliver of Shadow to learn more about this fantastic series!

P.S. Thanks Tynga!

  1. Great mailbox! $1 is pretty sweet for a hardcover Wuthering Heights.
Love your cards, the unicorn is my favorite, too :)

    1. I think I'm going to go back tomorrow to see if there are any others for $1 or perhaps visit their main location to see what they have. :) I love a good deal.

  2. Nice haul! I like the new way they're doing the cover for the Fury/Envy books, though I haven't read Fury yet. Happy reading!

Here's what I got this week!

    1. I haven't read Fury yet either, but I do prefer this new cover style. :) I'm going to be picking up Fury this summer to read before I get to Envy.

Off to check our your post now. :) Cheers!

    1. The one book is the sequel to an ARC you gave me last yer (that I still haven't read) and another is a second in a series (so I need to pick up book one soon). :) But they all sound really good. One is a steampunk and I have not read anything in that genre before. I'm excited!

  4. I love the idea of trading cards. That's so cool! I was going to support Tynga as well since she's Canadian (and even though I don't read the same kind of books I still watch her videos 'cause I love her). I'm going to do something else instead though. Happy reading!!!

    1. Most of the time I've seen romance trading cards for the book covers in Historical Romance genre (I even have a few), so these were especially fun since they are the characters in the book. They have little quotes from the books on the back too. :)

  5. What a beautiful week you had. Great mailbox honey. I'm glad you decided to support Tynga. I also started my own meme in lieu of the scandal.

    1. Thanks Grace. :) I have a feeling a lot of bloggers will be still making a mailbox post, but we will be seeing TONS of different versions around. *sigh* I don't like drama, so I kept out of it.

  7. The dreaded thing with series. I probably won't be reading either Possession/Surender or Fury/Envy. BUT, I'm looking forward to The Unnaturalists and probably a lot of that is due to the fact that it's steampunk! Happy reading! :)

See what I got! I'm no longer doing IMM, but I'm still doing book hauls.

    1. There are not a lot of series that I've really been into. I actually have a lot of FIRSTS in a series sitting on my bookcase and some I'm not sure I'm going to get to anymore. LOL

    1. Hi Darlene. I read Wuthering Heights for the first time last year for Romance Week here on the blog. I think I need to read more classics or at least toss one in the mix here and there. :)

  11. Envy looks great! I had mixed feelings about the first book, Fury, but by the end, the book really was getting better. Looking forward to hearing what you think! :)

    1. Liz - I still need to read Fury first, but I think I'll read them back to back then. I kinda like when that happens because if a book is really good, you can jump right into the next one. :)
