Personal Reading Challenge 2014

Okay so my Personal Reading Challenge in 2013 didn't really pan out the way I wanted it to. I had made up preset lists of books that fell into a handful of categories. I didn't take into account that life would disrupt me from getting the lists completed each month. And I did not account for other books grabbing my attention away from my preset lists. I had great intentions of sticking to the lists to complete many of the challenges I had signed up for, but that didn't really work out.

So this year I am changing up how I do my Personal Reading Challenge:

I will be posting a list of books, a few at a time, similar to About Happy Books' Reading Next Piles posts and Fikshun's My Reading Pile posts. I think that picking a handful of books at at a time will be easier to manage than predetermining them a year ahead. And by not attaching a certain number of books per month, I won't feel as swamped.

I'd like to thank both of these bloggers for being an inspiration to me and for hosting such awesome posts/memes.

What are your plans for 2014? Any goals, changes in habits, personal challenges of your own?

  1. My resolutions post is coming up soon (tomorrow I think). I would like to comment more. I didn't interact much in 2013 and I'm looking to change that this year.

    Happy New Year!

    1. I'll be sure to check it out. I need to comment more this year as well. I'm planning to make some kind of organized schedule for blogging so that it will fit my personal life better and that both will work together instead of feeling like I'm abandoning one portion of my life for another. :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR to you too!

  3. I have just cleaned up a list of 2014 challenges I'm in, that folks ought to find helpful. As someone stuck on dial-up telephone internet (honestly!) this is a nice, text-based, alphabetized reference. It includes the 3 brand new ones I've created for February 1st! Join me! :) Carolyn
