Traveling With Books

Okay so I'm torn.

We are going on a week long vacation to the Maya Riviera, Mexico. I plan to bring a few books with me and I think I've narrowed it down to bringing physical books in lieu of my e-reader. And I've only come to this conclusion as I plan to lounge on the beach a day here or there and figure an e-reader isn't really practical for this destination. Normally on trips I bring my e-reader so that I have many books to choose from and that allows me to pick from a handful of books that might match my mood. I think bringing paperbacks/print copies limits that. *sigh*

So here's my question to you all...
When traveling what type of book do you prefer to bring with you - print or e-book? And how many do you bring?

Here's my plan:

I've picked out four books from my gigantic TBR pile that I keep meaning to get to. I am hoping that four is just the right number of books. My husband thinks I'm a little crazy for bringing books with me to a lovely beach vacation. I, however, like reading on the plane and reading in the warm sunshine while laying on the beach. I'm debating on adding a fifth book, but we will see about that.

So here are my choices:

I would love to see other suggestions for books to take with me on this vacation?
Perhaps a good romance?

  1. I'd say 4 is a good number of books to bring, and romance definitely! I ended up bringing 4 plus my Nook with me on vacation last year and it worked out well. :) Have fun!!

  2. I bring both, my Ereader and print books. For a week, I'd probably bring just a few print books. With my Ereader, I can have my entire ebook library at my disposal.

    1. Very true - it's nice to have so many books at your fingertips.

  3. I would take both. Print books may be better on the beach and by the water, but ereader is so easy while actually travelling. Plus the ability to have more books is always nice.

  4. Depending on where I go I would take both (I do not take my e-reader to the beach) I always bring a paper book or two I want to read and if I am short it is a good excuse to buy more books ;)

  5. I usually bring both...my e-reader and 3-4 print copies... paperbacks. I've never finished a book on vacation though...I only have time to read on the plane and even then it's hard with Hubby talking. And our vacations are never beach type relaxing vacations...we are always go, go go sightseeing until we get back to the hotel and drop.

    1. We will be mixing this vacation up with beach visits and sightseeing. :) But mostly I'll be reading on the plane and when on the beach. :) I doubt I'll get through all of the books I bring, but I'd rather have extras instead of not enough.
