Since my move in January, I've been thinking about all of the ways to organize my books.
So many choices. So I thought I'd do a walk down memory lane and a post about some fun options to organize!

How my bookcases looked in our old apartment - feature Bookcase of the Week at All About {n}.
I miss this bookcase - it's now in my living room with treasures on it. |
I found an interesting article here with 9 Ways to Organize Books and I realized I do most of them, not just one.
Also this fun post, if you are into styling your house (like a decorator) - 7 Ways To Stack 7 Books.
And then this fun post by Epic Reads called Shades of YA!
So how do you organize your books?
I have a feeling I will be reorganizing my books this weekend.
hmm organize. I haven't done that in forever. I have 3 bookshelves and they way I try to organize them is by genre, then by series, then by author, then by size. I try to keep my shelf looking clean and pretty but... I am lazy. It always ends up a mess. So I left it pretty much by series and size. I have no idea where each series lies... I have to dig to find... but they at least look pretty.
ReplyDeleteI think organizing by series is a great idea, that way they are all together when you want to reread them. :)
DeleteBack when I lived on my own I had a bookcase where I sorted all my books just by color. I LOVED it. It added a fun pop of color to the room it was in and just was fun to look at. Of course, once I moved back home with my parents they all moved into boxes. I have one shelf of books and they're literally sorted with books I have read on one side and books I own but are waiting to be read on the other. It's so depressing. :(
ReplyDeleteI love organizing by colour! It's such a nice way to add colour to a room. :)
DeleteMine are organized by Publisher and then alphabetically(with each pub). Working in a bookstore definitely makes my OCD appear at home when it comes to books! LOL
ReplyDeleteThat's another great idea. :)
DeleteOkay, this is probably the worst one yet, but I'm a librarian. My books have been organized by subject matter, but this summer, I seriously think I am going to catalog all of them and put them in Dewey Decimal order. I know.....seriously nerdy!
ReplyDeleteThat's actually kind of awesome for a librarian. :)
DeleteMine are organized into 3 bookshelves, one for "keep" - all series, one for already read - in no order, one for to-read - by height. So really, very little organization at all. But I move next month, so maybe I'll organize them when I unpack.
ReplyDeleteOooh I like the idea of keep and to read. :) Good luck with the move!
DeleteI've recently decided that I really need to get a new bookshelf. I have a full big shelf, a full smaller shelf, and three big stacks of books (15+) on my living room floor. And let's not get into the crazy number I have still at my mom's house...one day I'll have them all in one spot and the space to organize them all pretty like. Someday... :)
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be wonderful to have a room filled with bookcases? One day I will have that. :) I hope you get new shelves soon!
DeleteMine are mostly organised in piles - a needing to be read for review pile, a read but needing review pile, a new purchases pile, and they are all over the place since I ran out of room on my bookshelf a long time ago!

That's a good order for them to be in. :) Thanks for stopping by my blog.
