Yet again, Marlene Perez' latest installment in the Dead Is Series was a quick and fun read. I still need to go back and read the original Dead Is Series, but from what I have read in this spin off series, I am loving it. I plan to share this series with my pre-teen niece - I know she is just going to love it.

Jessica is still out there fighting paranormal baddies in this next installment and also pining away for the ever elusive and mysterious Dominic. She has a sixth sense about things and can generally sniff out the abnormal happenings around town. Jessica is like a detective and a warrior all in one. 

This was a very unique story because it invovled the band again and a crossover with a Pied Piper type evil. There are a few twists in the story, but I was able to figure out who was really behind all of the sabotaging of the Battle of the Bands. This is not unusual for a Dead Is book, but they are charming nonetheless and still have enough mystery to them that you can't wait to read more.

Also, the little love story between Jessica and Dominic is expanded on a little more. You can empathize with Jessica because Dominic is always giving her mixed signals.  

Overall, another great addition to the series.
