My Top Ten Favourite Books From Childhood

Top Ten Tuesday is a feature over at The Broke and the Bookish.

1. I loved reading The Baby Sitters Club Series by Ann M. Martin - I'm pretty sure i read them all. I loved how the girls were all so very different, yet they had one thing in common - their love for children and baby sitting. I was a baby sitter growing up and only wish I had thought to try and make a club and meet other sitters. Great series.

2. The Fear Street Series by R.L. Stine - This was another favourite series while I was growing up. I know that I didn't read them all, but it felt pretty close to it. So many creepy stories.

3. Charlotte's Web by E.B. White - this is a classic for all youngsters. It had been a while since I had read this so I actually read it recently for a rereadathon and my review can be found here.

4. Anything Christopher Pike - yet again creepiness was my genre of choice as I got a little older.

5. The Curse of the Viking Grave by Farley Mowat - this was required reading for one of my classes (I think grade 7 or 8). I hated required reading, but I ended up liking this book a lot. I was fascinated by this book.

6. I adored the Little Miss and Mr. Men books by Roger Hargreaves. These were the cutest and most fun stories ever. Look at the shape of Little Miss Chatterbox! None of the characters actually were shaped like people, but bright coloured shapes or squiggles. There was always a moral to the story or something to be learned along the way. I have a few set aside for when I have children of my own one day.

7. A Wrinkle In Time by Madeleine L'Engle - another classic!

 8. Little Women by Lousia May Alcott - yet another classic that I think I need to reread soon.

9. The Berenstain Bears by Stan Berenstain - I loved seeing what trouble Brother and Sister could get into. And the illustrations are fun too.

10. The Little Critte books by Mercer Mayer - This was another favourite while growing up, because like The Berenstain Bears there was always something Little Critter was getting into and there was always a lesson to be learned. :)
