It's been over a month since I had any type of post go live on my blog and I've only been reading off and on as I hit a reading slump during this time as well. Now is the time to check in, update my challenges (that I'm probably failing) and relaunch a routine to get back into blogging!
So first, let's just chat about life lately. Its obviously different for everyone right now and every person will handle things in a different manner, so there is no comparing. I just wanted to let you all know how I was doing and coping with all the change. Change is hard for me a lot of the time, so given that I just started a new role at work that will be the stepping stone to launch my real career at work finally (it's not just a job anymore) and then 4 weeks into the new role the pandemic hit. Our daycare closed due to this and that added another layer of struggle for us. We've made it through, so far, hubby and I both have our jobs and are still working full time (thank you for whoever is looking out for us), we are all healthy, and we've had a friend watching our little girl (and she's thriving there). The restrictions are slowly lifting, but our little family is still being cautious and social distancing and restricting contact where necessary.
This all affected my ability to focus on reading/blogging. I've been too tired to read much and had no time to even sit at a computer outside of work hours. Our toddler was struggling at the beginning with all of the things she wasn't allowed to do anymore, which in turn affected her routines (including bedtime). This all limited my ability to just chill and read like normal.
I have been able to listen to some audiobooks, but it is taking me forever to even finish those. I did finally read an eARC that I will be participating in a blog tour for this month (so keep an eye out for my review and the tour info). And I finally feel like I can finish my one library book I took out back in March (it's due now since the library is opening back up for returns and curbside pick up of loans - oops).
Perhaps I'll even try to make a JUNE TBR! Stay tuned for that - I'm going to keep it short and sweet as I am still trying to figure out how to balance my new routine/life. I'm also looking to add in a course to take at work that will help me in the next step in my career path, but that alone stresses me out because it would mean a lot of studying when I barely have enough down time alone to read/watch TV.
And the last puzzle piece is that I think we've solved our daycare issues for the summer and school in the fall (if that even happens). We were already needing to switch to a new provider when school starts and had plans in place for her to start going this summer, but the pandemic hit and everything went off the rails. So we've worked it all out and she can start in July. Thank goodness for our friend who is watching her now, because I would have run out of vacation and sick days well before now.
