Sh*tty Mom: The Parenting Guide For The Rest Of Us by Mary Ann Zoellner, Laurie Kilmartin, Karen Moline, Alicia YbarboPublished: September 1, 2012Publisher: Abrams ImagePages: 176Received: borrowed from my sister in lawSh*tty Mom is the ultimate parenting guide, written by four moms who have seen it all. As hilarious as it is universal, each chapter presents a common parenting scenario with advice on how to get through it in the easiest and most efficient way possible. With chapters such as “How to Sleep Until 9 A.M. Every Weekend” and “When Seeing an Infant Triggers a Mental Illness That Makes You Want to Have Another Baby,” as well as a Sh*tty Mom quiz, this is a must-have, laugh-out-loud funny book for the sh*tty parent in all of us.
First off - know that this is a tongue in cheek kind of book. Don't take it too seriously. It's a fun read that lets you blow off steam when you're having a frustrated time with parenting. It's witty and unrestrained.
The format of the book reminds me of parenting books I read during pregnancy, but with more hilarious titles and completely ridiculous information in each chapter. You'll laugh so much reading this, but take it all with a grain of salt. There are even some chapters that weren't my cup of tea, but I'm sure some will find them entertaining.
Chapter titles include: "How to Not Hear the Baby in the Middle of the Night" and "How to Hand Off the Newborn Who Just Filled a Diaper".
A good satire is just what the doctor ordered when you're having one of those days and you feel like you are losing your mind - pick up this book, decompress, have a good chuckle and be thankful you're not a Sh*tty Mom. This parenting thing can be hard and tiring, especially if you think Your Child(ren) Want To Ruin You!
