Interesting concept - the world of cyber sex. Another life - completely online where no one knows you, that is until they do.
Julia is reeling over the death of her younger sister who has been murdered. While trying to figure out what happened, she stumbles upon her sisters secret life of online dating and hookups. She lets herself fall into a cyber world in the guise of locating her sisters murderer. At first I think it was truly to find her sisters killer, but then it becomes more. It's her way of tapping back into the world she once belonged to as a young woman.
Flashbacks to her previous life keep popping up. You see what she was like, what she sometimes yearns for and sometimes is terrified could happen again.
Julia's life is starting to get out of control with all of the secrets and uncertainty. Her life starts unraveling, she's beginning to become paranoid and feels out of control. The story begins to get extremely intense and completely absorbs you just past the halfway mark.
Yet again, just when I think I have part of the story figured out, BAM, not quite! I can't write too much, it gives away too much of the plot and the twists.
I still think Before I Go To Sleep wins for the thriller plotline, but Second Life is a close second. They are not even remotely alike, but both can keep you on the edge of your seat, guessing who and what. Both are great reads and I look forward to more by Watson.
