When I was put in touch with Naya Nikki to see if she was interested in being a part of Romance Week, she jumped at the chance and to my great surprise she actually wrote up a little something to go with all of my guest post ideas... so here they are. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts Naya.
Share what your characters could
be doing years down the road after their happily ever after..
Hmmmm…I’ve never really thought
about what about what my characters would be doing. I leave them to
lead their own life after I finish writing them; because I feel like
I have controlled them enough that they might start to resent me or
rebel. I think Max and Amy will have expanded their family a lot
more. The girls would be in school, I can see Phoebe being the
studious one and Grace being the creative one.
With Ryan and Cassidy, I can see them
having A LOT more children. Jayden would be in high school and the
school’s top athlete. Brayden would be the shy studious one but
he’d be good at something else boy-ish like cars, or something.
As for Jack he would be still
travelling the world, making films but be very unsuccessful in love.
I can see Grace not really wanting to be part of his life…but who
knows. Like I said my characters have a mind of their own.
Your ideal Valentine's Day
My ideal Valentine’s Day, I’m not
sure. It would have to be something personal because I feel
relationships are something between two people not with the rest of
the world. My Valentine’s Day this year consists of going to the
cinema and watching far too many movies with my friends.
Top 5 favourite romance books
that inspired you
Cecila Ahern’s Where Rainbows End &

(it’s not technically a romance novel but I love her
characterizations)
Giovanna Fletcher’s Billy and Me
Why did you pick to write romance
novels?
I’m a true romantic at heart and I’ve
always loved romance novels. They just make me feel warm and
satisfied by the end of the novel and that’s what I wanted for my
readers. No matter what I’m reading or watching I am always rooting
for a romance in the book/film/TV show.
I read somewhere once: Only write what
you would read; so I thought why not, I would read a romance novel so
why not write one? And that’s how Familiar Ties came about…
Familiar Ties by Naya NikkiPublished: May 1, 2012Publisher: InkSpell PublishingMax West is a widower raising Phoebe, his four-year-old daughter. As her fifth year without her mother approaches, Phoebe finds solace in her godmother, Amy Riley, and her daughter, Grace Crawford, another single parent family. Amy Riley is a successful fashion designer who spends most of her days raising her four-year-old daughter, Grace, while her wayward boyfriend is travelling the world making the next best film. As the fifth year without her best friend looms she finds comfort in her ex-boyfriend, Max, and his daughter, Phoebe. These two "broken" families have a tough week to face as the dreaded day approaches. However through their past, present and debatable future will their choices affect the outcome both parents clearly want and are simply denying? Or will Phoebe and Grace lose the only "whole" family they have ever known?
