Deserted Island with Canadian Author MARIE LANDRY!

Weekly Feature here at Snowdrop Dreams  of Books where authors and bloggers share what five books and what five  other items they would want with them if they were ever stuck on a  deserted island and why they chose them. Some posts are serious, some  are extremely silly and some are mixture. Check back every week to see  what your favourite authors and bloggers would pick. Click here if you would like to participate.

Welcome back to the Deserted Island feature. It took a little hiatus, but I'm bringing it back. And the first author to jump on board is Marie Landry (also a fellow Canadian)! So check out Marie's choices and here recent release!

5 books

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by JK Rowling
I love all the Harry Potter books but for some reason this one always sticks out as my favourite. I’m not even really sure why - maybe it was the introduction of Sirius Black (who I adored), or maybe it was because this was the book where it really began to feel like Harry and the others were growing up.

Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery
A Canadian classic; one I’ve read - and will likely read again - many times. Funny, whimsical, touching, imaginative - this book has it all.

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
I just recently reread this book as part of a read-along, and I know I could read it a dozen more times and never get tired of it. It’s a brilliant example of contemporary young adult at its finest.

Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson
Another fantastic example of wonderful contemporary young adult. A road trip, heartache, romance, humour, music, amazing character development.

Someone Like You by Sarah Dessen
In case you hadn’t guessed by now, I love contemporary young adult. I first read this book when I was sixteen, and I swore Sarah Dessen had written it just for me. It was the first book I’d ever read that seemed to mirror my life in countless ways, and it’s always had a special place in my heart.

5 items

My laptop (plus a solar powered charger) - I could write, listen to music, read ebooks, plus if I left it on overnight, it would be a source of light.

My camera - It may not be practical, but I never go anywhere without my camera. And since I’m a writer, I could document my time on the island and then write a book about it, complete with pictures.

A huge umbrella - It would provide shade and shelter, plus I could fold it up and use it as a weapon if I had to.

A fishing rod - I don’t think I could hunt, but I would hope that all the fishing I did with my parents as a kid would be embedded in my subconscious somewhere and I’d be able to manage fishing…how I’d kill and clean them would be an entirely different matter, but if it came to starving I’m sure I could figure it out!

Matches - Just because they seem practical and I’d probably be screwed for starting a fire otherwise. Plus I'd need to see at night, have warmth, and cook all the fish I’m going to catch.

Thanks so much Chrystal!

  1. Oooh, good choices!! I'm pretty sure I included Anna in my 5 as well. And I love all those books, so I could just keep gushing about them... although I think my favourite Dessen is The Truth About Forever.
