I did the unthinkable - read book three of a series before book one or two. I know - what was I thinking? Though this book is a part of a series, I do not feel like I missed too much from not reading the first two books. That being said I think if I had read them in order I would be a lot more attached to the secondary characters in the storyline (as they are from the past books).

I did enjoy this story of infiltrating the bad guys all while keeping Alanna safe. And idea of Alanna and Luc is wonderful. They each have their shadowed pasts filled with despair and guilt. Luc is this man filled with such self-hatred and remorse over the death of his father figure/mentor. He cannot she past revenge and hatred. Alanna has much love to give to those she holds dear. She has to bear the knowledge that her twin daughters never died after delivery, but had been taken and kept secretly away from her for so many years. The hero and heroine have broken hearts and don't know how to heal them without the help of each other.  The only thing that I think needed more expanding upon is the relationship between Alanna and Luc - they sense each others souls somehow, then when they finally meet they are in love? I guess if they are truly soulmates then that can happen as is mentioned in the book, but I just felt like there needed to be more to their story, more depth to their accepting each other as soulmates. Maybe it was because the story was written as a novella and so much has to happen in a short time?

I was drawn to this series because it contains such a great mixture of beings: angels, fae, demons, gargoyles, weres, Druids and more. It's like the best of all series. There are even multiple planes of existence: Earth, the Abyss, hIfreann, and the Otherworld.

I did enjoy a few of the side characters, Fritz and Rice. And I noticed a few other secondary characters are the main characters from books 1 (Warrior's Rise) and 2 (Dragon Child). I will definitely be reading those soon so that I can be filled in on the back stories of those characters. Mostly because there are two more books coming out in 2012 for the Warrior's For Light Series - Sophie's Challenge and Kate's Army.
