Review: Puckster's First Hockey Sweater and Puckster's First Hockey Game by Lorna Schultz Hicholson

I received these two books as a surprise in a bog of books that I received recently from Tundra Books. I had asked for a few hockey related books for my fiancee to read and review on my blog (he will be reviewing books from time to time on here with me) and they surprised me by sending along these amazing children's books.

In Puckster's First Hockey Sweater by Lorna Schultz Nicholson, we meet Puckster and his woodland friends who love to play hockey. Every day they have to shovel off the outdoor rink so that they can practice. They finally are set to play a match against The Rockets and the team worries that they won't look nearly as good as The Rockets because they do not have matching sweaters. They decided to work as a team shoveling driveways and sidewalks until they can collect enough money to buy the entire team sweaters with their names on them. This book shows how team work can accomplish many things and can bring friends together.

In Puckster's First Hockey Game, we watch the team work together to play their very first game against The Rockets. Everyone was trying very hard and they even tie up the game. Little Charlie gets a little frazzled by so many people watching him play, but in the end his team members figure out a way for him to get the puck and to be able to score the winning goal.
Puckster's Tips
1. Every person on a team is important.
2. Always encourage your teammates by saying positive words.
3. Never give up and always play your hardest.
