Event Recap: YA Apocalypse Tour (Belleville)

Today I attended the YA Apocalypse Tour in Belleville! This is the closest event to my city that I've seen yet and it was a lot of fun! Thank you Chapters Belleville!

I picked up Kathy (I Write, I Read, I Review) and we met up with Ciara (Lost At Midnight Reviews) and Emilie (Emilie's Book World). I am regretting not getting a group picture of the bloggers together (with/without the authors). See my brilliant ideas always come AFTER the fact.

We actually had a lot of one on one time with the authors today, though I was a lot more shy and was more of an observer than anything. I get all nervous and shy around authors for some reason (normally I am very chatty, so it's totally uncharacteristic of me). I really enjoyed watching the authors interact with each others, the bloggers and customers of the store.

As always Lesley Livingston (Starling) was an absolute joy to meet - she has such enthusiasm that it is impossible to not get pulled into her excitement! Megan Crewe (The Way We Fall) was walking the store with Maureen McGowan (Deviants) handing out bookmarks and swag and asking people to come to their table to meet the authors and both were very happy to see everyone today - Maureen even remembered us from last week's Ontario Blogger Meetup. Courtney Summers (This Is Not A Test) was very sweet, funny and a pleasure to meet. And Cheryl Rainfield (Hunted) was so easy to chat with - I noticed that Kathy had quite a great conversation with her today and I decided that I need to pick up a copy of Scars after hearing them discuss it (even though it was not part of the apocalyptic tour).

Kathy has a really amazing surprise for later this week that she worked on with the authors while we were there. I'll leave it to her to reveal it, but I will definitely edit this post to include links to the other girls' recaps and the surprise!

  1. Oh it sounds like you guys had a fun time. So jealous that they aren't coming to Montreal. Was there alot of people there?

    1. Hi Cindy! Actually there were just the four of us bloggers there. Though a few people stopped here and there to chat with the authors and pick up books. We tried to chat people up to recommend the books to them for gifts or for themselves. It was a lot of fun, because we had the chance to spend a lot of time with the authors, though I'm sure they might have been hoping for more people to stop by.

  2. That sounded like so much fun! I'm just like you, I get so shy around authors. I don't even know what to say! Great photos and recap

  3. I literally want to cry reading this because I'm SO jealous that these authors came to MY town and I was out of town...plus I'd love to meet you and Kathy! What are the odds?! No authors ever come here and I never go anywhere, but the first time I get a break and get to go away for the day, all these amazing authors come! *cries bitterly* lol Ugh. Anyway, despite my raging jealously, I'm really happy you got to go and that you had fun. I'd probably clam up too, I'm really shy in general, but around 'famous' people (and of course authors are like rock stars, right), I'm even worse. Hopefully there'll be some other cool event soon and we can all go together.

    1. I definitely would love to meet up sometime with you. And yes authors are like ROCK STARS to me, so I get all shy and awkward around them. LOL It's easier chatting online like this with authors like you and them. ;)

I am sorry you missed the event, but I heard they were signing stock after the event. You should stop by and check it out. :) I am hoping to go back and pick up a few of the books that I couldn't afford this time around.

  4. Wanted to make sure I dropped in and let you know I've got my recap up. I'm just putting the finishing touches on the various components of our surprise, and everything should go off for that tomorrow morning without a hitch.

@ Marie: Keep an eye on my blog this week. ;) I've got pretty much the next best thing to being there all lined up. :D *is very excited* Very sorry we didn't get to meet, though. Seemed like such a great opportunity.

    1. I didn't realize you lived close to there... I'm in Kingston, so it was awesome that it wasn't too far away. Maybe we can meet up at some event sometime if they have one close to here again. :0
