"Pick a character from a book you are currently reading or have just finished and tell us about him/her."
Celia (from the historical romance, Sinful in Satin by Madeline Hunter) - she is in her early twenties and trying to figure out her life, which is hard to do when you are the daughter of a famous London courtesan and not planning on following your Mom's footsteps. Celia has a lot of inner turmoil and can be stubborn and very strong willed and other times very meek and needy. Her moods change like the wind, based mostly on how her peers treat her - sometimes she doesn't care what people are whispering about her and other times she seems resigned to a fate of being a courtesan just to prove people right. She is a very proper lady, but has more skills than most (which include knowing how to get her way with men - though she is still a virgin herself). The best part about Celia was watching her fall in love, because she was fighting with herself so much about whether she should let herself fall in love or if this was just going to just her first affair. I think all of the switching between self doubt and confidence is what makes Celia such and endearing character.
EDIT: I just reviewed this book over at my BFF's blog - and did a guest post about why I love historical romance books. Check it out here.
Do you have anyone that you can discuss books with IRL? Tell us about him/her.
The person who I can discuss books with IRL is my BFF Aislynn from Knit, Purl, Stitch... Read and Cook! The fun part is that we chat online about books because we live far apart, but that doesn't stop us from helping each other blog about the books we've read, help each other with reviews when we are stuck, recommend new books as we each have different tastes (the one genre we have in common is historical romances) and share the coolest new bookish stuff we find! I wouldn't trade by BFF book friend for the world - she understands my love for reading better than anyone else.
Though my sister, my Mom and my fiancee follow very close behind. They love reading too, but are not as passionate about it as I am. They support me with my blogging and listen to when I am super excited about a book I am reading or a book I just can't wait to get. I have the best group of people around me to chat with about books.
Awwwwww!! Thank you C :) You're the best BFF a girl could ask for :)
ReplyDeleteHopping through. Like you, my family and hubby like to read but they're not as into it as I am.
